About Me
My name is Laquita Covington. I was born and raised in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This is my sixth year of teaching. I've recently had the opportunity to fulfill my dream of gaining a job closer to home so that I could serve in the community in which I grew up. I have always been an avid reader, but my passion for literacy instruction began my first year teaching. Working in one of North Carolina's poorest school systems, I was able to witness the challenges students face when trying to overcoming reading deficits. My career goal is to become a literacy teacher so that I can help close reading gaps, and also spark a love for reading in all of my students.
